What I Do

UX content design & strategy. I collaborate with product designers and localization teams to incorporate content design and UX writing into the user journey -- supporting the contextual conversation between product and user -- while infusing brand voice and tone for the target audience.

Interaction design & UX architecture. I work with product teams to design solutions for the interaction between the user and the product, system, or service -- based on research, data, and testing -- applying design thinking to make the structural design of information useful and usable.

Partner with UX research. I validate content design solutions based on actionable insights from research, user testing, experiments, A/B testing, or content testing -- evaluating qualitative and quantitative data about user needs, actions, and frustrations -- to provide support for design decisions.

Meet user needs & business goals. I evaluate UI/UX designs and flows/features against functional requirements, KPIs, user needs, and business goals -- addressing UX strategy and building UX maturity -- for digital product management across various touchpoints, devices, and platforms/channels.

Recommendation

"If I had to describe Michelle in two words, it would be devoted and passionate. Michelle and I worked together in improving the UX at the American Cancer Society, and her personal care for the work was visible every day. She quickly proved her fast learning skills as she dove right in on a massive site redesign and replatform initiative, and her ability to deliver great work within tight deadlines was evident shortly thereafter."

Director, User Experience (American Cancer Society)

Why I Like What I Do

I'm both creative and analytical. Always have been, and this is why I am genuinely energized by UX and design thinking. I'm just as likely to ask questions to get to the root of the pain point as I am to sketch a design solution, write microcopy, build a wireframe, or evaluate user tasks and functional requirements. Making the user experience 'look & feel' easy is actually not easy at all.

I'm all about collaboration. I speak the language of user-centered design with product teams and communicate across organizational levels -- from users to executives -- with a proven track record of success completing projects individually, collaboratively, and with remote/global teams. I enjoy working with diverse teams (recommended by the Harvard Business Review) for creative problem solving to meet user needs and business goals.

I have a lifelong love for words. I consider myself fortunate to work in a profession I enjoy. My career has focused on two areas -- information architecture and content design -- using interaction design and UX writing to support the user experience. With a solid understanding of UX strategy, I hold a unique perspective on how well-thought-out content design and interaction design create enjoyable experiences that surprise and delight.
